Raphael De Sousa completed rare back to back wins at the Nau Morgado Golf resort when, after winning The Alamos Classic in a play-off against Felix Schultz he repeated the feat when defeating Gary Hurley on the first extra hole to win The Morgado Classic II.

The first-round leader was Hugues Joannes, who was showing a welcome return to form with a 7 under par round of 66.

Hot on Joannes’s heels with 6 under par 67’s were, John Ross Galbraith, Portugal’s own Tomas Silva and the very talented young amateur, Tom Spreadborough.

On the second day De Sousa played with Hurley and It was nip and tuck between the pair all day and when Hurley birdied the eighteenth to equal De Sousa’s 5 under par 68, it was off to the second playoff in a row, over the eighteenth hole.

The result came very quickly when Hurley, having left himself a ten-footer for par, stood and watched De Sousa roll in a 12-foot putt for his birdie and the win.
