Ricardo Santos tasted victory again at Onyria Palmares in the Portugal Pro Golf Tour “Palmares Classic” with a slender one-shot victory over Gary Hurley and Paul McBride.
Santos held the joint first round lead with, McBride and Sam Connor each scoring impressive 6 under par rounds of 66 shots.
The final round was a closely fought battle between Santos, Hurley, McBride with Connor slipping out of contention with a 2 over par first nine holes.
After 35 holes Hurley led by one shot on 10 under par, with Santos and McBride a shot further back.
But in a major change of fortunes on the final hole, Santos hit his second shot to within inches for a certain birdie, while Hurley bogeyed and McBride could not match the Santos birdie.
Onyria Palmares boasts 27 of the finest holes in the Algarve and now the resort is being up-graded with a new clubhouse and hotel in the offing, it will be a certain “must play” venue for all golfers who visit The Algarve.
