Tiago Cruz returned to winning ways here at Palmares after spending some time drifting in the doldrums.
Cruz shot a total of 10 under par over the “Praia / Alvor” nines, with “Praia” being the front nine, a combination which has never been played before and this gave him an emphatic 5 shot win over James Maw and David Boote.
Mark Laskey set the pace on the first day with a solid 5 under par 67 but Cruz made his intentions clear with a 4 under par 68 to sit alongside his fellow countryman Joáo Ramos, just one shot back.
On the second day Cruz played unfaltering golf and as both Laskey and Ramos fell by the wayside he sailed on to a comfortable victory and a cheque for 2000€.
