Dale Whitnell scored his second win on the Portugal Pro Golf Tour with a convincing performance to win The Amendoeira O’Connor Classic II, by a single shot from Irelands John-Ross Galbraith and Spain’s Manuel Morugan.
After the first day there were joint leaders with Morugan and the former Portugal Open Champion, Van Phillips, on 7 under par, one shot ahead of Jack Colegate, Ali Balcombe and Dermot McElroy.
On the second day it was a superbly consistent Whitnell with a bogey free. 6 birdie 66 who held off both Morugan, who could not get a birdie on the back nine to catch him and McElroy who was level with Whitnell with one to play but found a bogey at the final hole.
The win set Whitnell up perfectly for the Tour Championships at Troia Golf and Resort, where there are 5 Challenge Tour starts up for grabs, for the winner.
